About us

The Uganda Diaspora Network is a US based registered organization that seeks to promote, market and grow Ugandan Culture, Business, Investment, Entrepreneurship among the Diaspora Community. 

As a non-partisan institution with partner associations across the globe , the organization operates three major annual diaspora events in Canada, the USA and Uganda. 

It was founded by Mr. Ronnie Mayanja in 2011 with Dr. Maggie Kigozi as its Patron. Uganda Diaspora Network is also affiliated to diaspora organizations in China, Japan, Europe and Africa.

We do this by providing a consistent stream of information and research to Uganda and African companies in specific sectors.

DUE DILIGENCE INVESTIGATION

We provide extensive due diligence investigation and independent peer project reviews & assessment, identify joint venture partners and facilitate agreements and negotiations.

ORGANIZE EVENTS

We organize conferences, trade shows, roundtable discussions and more to facilitate investment and trade opportunities.

PARTNERSHIPS

We find and introduce businesses and investors to each other in order to facilitate business partnerships.

WORKSHOPS & PRESENTATIONS

Ronnie Mayanja is the founder of Ugandan Diaspora Network, a social networking forum celebrating Uganda’s success stories abroad. Now in its 12th year the forum holds an annual Diaspora Social Networking Gala and Business Breakfast at Kampala Serena Hotel and is proud to call Dr. Maggie Kigozi Patron. Ronnie previously served as a member of the Uganda North American Association (UNAA) Board of Directors for two terms before moving into Diaspora-related consultancy work.

He also founded the Ugandan Diaspora News Portal accessed in more than 100 countries across the globe by both Ugandans and friends of Uganda. Recently Ronnie Mayanja registered Uganda Diaspora Network Inc. as a non-profit in the State of Massachusetts to help promote his philanthropic work among the New England Diaspora. From 7-9 October 2022, Ronnie hosted the first New England Business Expo & Investment Summit at the Boston Burlington Marriott hotel.

His previous positions have included board member for the East African Chamber of Commerce (EACC) based in Dallas, Texas. Deputy Station Manager at WBS Television and Radio Disk Jockey on Kampala’s Capital FM. He also interned and worked as an Africa Minder – Assignment Editor at the CNN International Desk in Atlanta.

Ronnie was a pioneer of the first Uganda Canadian Business Expo and Convention that was held in Vancouver, Canada in 2012. Building on the success of the first convention he was inspired to help organize the second Uganda Canadian Business Expo and Convention held in Toronto in 2018 working alongside a team of dedicated volunteers and community organizers. He recently registered the Uganda Canadian Diaspora Network and Uganda Canada Convention – in Canada.

As a communications specialist, Ronnie Mayanja has been involved in Uganda’s election coverage both in 2011 and 2016 where he consulted for both NTV(2011) and NBS(2016) leading television stations in Uganda. He is also one of the Moderators for the largest Ugandan Diaspora social media platforms on Facebook with more than 500,000 followers — Ugandans at Heart (UAH)

Other responsibilities have included helping to coordinate the dynamic duo and Chess Champions Coach Robert Katende and his protege Phiona Mutesi (Queen of Katwe) North American speaking engagements.

Ronnie Mayanja is Budonian who holds a bachelor’s degree from Makerere University and a Master’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Boston University, College of Communication. Currently, Ronnie is employed by the largest companies in the US that pride themselves as global leaders in innovative communications and technology solutions. His passion is to promote and celebrate Uganda’s Diaspora success stories. Ronnie considers himself Proudly Ugandan and will do whatever it takes to advance Uganda’s Trade & Investment Opportunities.

Solomon Serwanjja is a Ugandan award-winning investigative journalist and the Executive Director of the African Institute for Investigative Journalism. He holds a Master’s Degree in Journalism and communication from Makerere University. In 2019, Mr. Serwanjja won the BBC Komla Dumor Award, a prestigious honor for Africa’s top journalist of the year. He has an incremental experience of 14 years in investigative reporting and broadcast journalism as a whole has worked with national, regional, and international media.

He has over 18 years experience in the areas of Brand, R&D and Creative Direction.

He co-founded SAINT AFRICA LLC, a cloth company based in Virginia , USA that manufactures, sells and ships globally and works as a brand consultant for H.E Jewel Taylor the Vice President of Liberia and Professor Lumumba a renown Pan-Africanist.

He has also worked for the South African Government, Uganda Airlines amongst other global and African brands as a Brand Consultant, Creative Strategist and Art Director.
